I love the wide-open eyes of the boy! To me they show alarm and surprise. The mouth, and the gritting of teeth show anger, but the boy seems to be accepting his punishment since he's neither kicking his legs or either flailing his arms or fisting his hands. His grasping of the bedsheet is typical of young boys and girls who are being spanked. It's probably a combination of pain and anger. The sign of tears in his eyes is great; they might be teats of anger and even emotional hurt. Finally, the young boy has a slight, rosy blush in his cheek. . . . . The art is exquisite and you can learn a lot about a boy or girl's reaction to a spanking, maybe (everyone is different)--but the personality of the kid, and his either belief he doesn't deserve to be punished--or his knowledge that he's getting just what he deserves, so he's angry at getting caught ,found out, or arguing, and you could say there's maybe a hint of shame, and certainly humiliation, in his face.
